What is Economic Development?
A program, group of policies, or activity that seeks to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for a community, by creating and/or retaining jobs that facilitate growth and provide a stable tax base.

What is Campbell County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC)?
Campbell County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) is a non-profit organization working to improve the overall economy of Campbell County through attraction and expansion of new and existing business and industry. The agency promotes, encourages, and supports a diversified economy in Campbell County.

CCEDC's operating funds come from the City of Gillette, Town of Wright, Campbell County, and more than 45 corporate and individual sponsors. CCEDC provides professional and comprehensive services to businesses expanding or relocating in Campbell County.

What is Campbell County Economic Development Corporation’s purpose?
The mission of the Campbell County Economic Development Corporation is to promote business retention, expansion and recruitment. The Corporation shall promote the County, and its Communities, as an outstanding environment in which to conduct business and to reside.

The geographic area served by the CCEDC is Campbell County including its communities of Wright, Gillette, and the rural areas.

The local Campbell County economy is mineral-dependent. We have been blessed with low-sulfur coal, oil reserves and abundant natural gas supplies. Our local community has grown and developed tremendously because of these natural resources and the industries that extract them.

Our good fortune comes with some challenges -- the most significant of which is a local economy that swings between periodic "booms" and "busts" depending on national and international energy prices, environmental regulations and other factors.

Over 130 business and civic leaders in 2002 surveyed, indicated strong support for the implementation, by the CCEDC, of an aggressive, public-private economic development strategy that defined CCEDC's future role - focusing its mission.
